Charity begins with Lycetts

Lycetts is committed to making a difference. Not only in the way we do business but in the way we help change lives. We believe in helping communities less privileged than ourselves. That’s why all our available profits are passed to our ultimate owner, the charity Allchurches Trust, which in turn invests them back into the community.

Furthermore, we actively support several deserving causes year-after-year.

At home......

The Percy Hedley Foundation is a registered charity that helps disabled children, young people and adults get access to a wide range of high quality, specialist and personalised care and education support. Lycetts is proud to help the foundation support over 1,000 families each year who suffer with cerebral palsy and communication difficulties.

Lycetts raised more than £14,000 for The Percy Hedley Foundation following a successful race day which took place at Newcastle Racecourse.

And away......

Another charity close to our hearts is Tusk, a dynamic organisation committed to African wildlife conservation which is best known for its anti-poaching initiatives. Over the past 25 years, Tusk has invested £25 million into wildlife protection, community development and education programmes, designed to provide lasting benefit for the people and wildlife of Africa. They have contributed to more than 100 wildlife conservation projects, providing greater protection for 36 different endangered species, spanning 18 sub-Saharan countries.

Lycetts hosted an evening at the Hamish Mackie’s ‘Life in Bronze’ exhibition which showcased sculptures from his recent research trips to Australia, India and Africa. Lycetts’ guests helped raise over £4,000 through the purchase of his stunning sculptures.

Support through sponsorship

At Lycetts, we believe in giving individuals encouragement and motivation to succeed. We are passionate about giving people from our rural communities exceptional opportunities. That’s why we have chosen to sponsor these two exciting, new initiatives.

Equine excellence

Lycetts has become a key partner in the National Trainers Federation (NTF) award which encourages safe and effective employee management practices within the racing industry. Open to all training yards in the UK, the Lycetts Team Champion Award winner will receive a grant towards infrastructure or equipment.

Lycetts’ sponsorship of the award reflects the company’s support for, and involvement in the racing industry. With our deep understanding of the rural sector, bloodstock and racing, it is fitting to sponsor an award that showcases employers’ commitment to implementing outstanding working environments for their staff.

We only use adequately rated insurers.

Rural distinction

Lycetts has just launched an exciting new student scholarship opportunity in partnership with the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) at Cirencester. Two scholarships to the value of £2,500 each will be awarded in May with the winning RAU students undertaking an agreed research project at Lycetts during the course of the summer.

The research projects will relate to one of three topical issues:

  • The history of crop insurance, the effect of climate change and the part insurance can play in managing crop output volatility
  • The impact of flooding and its effect on the value of property plus the physical and insurance solutions available to minimise and address flood damage
  • The impact on the UK farming industry of the removal of EU subsidies as a consequence of Brexit
