Personal Accident Insurance

Lycetts personal accident insurance cover applies to accidents that prevent work, even those that happen at home.

We recommend personal accident insurance for principals and self-employed arborists and forestry contractors whose income would cease immediately if an accident were to prevent them working. Our arborist and forestry personal accident insurance cover applies to accidents at home as well as work.

This cover provides a lump sum payment following permanent injury or income payment following temporary disablement. Cover is 24 hours a day and applies to all accidents, wherever they occur. The following is an illustration only of the payments provided, but higher limits are available.

Death: £10,000

Loss of use of one or more limbs or sight of one or both eyes: £10,000

Permanent total disablement from gainful employment of any kind: £10,000

Temporary total disablement from usual occupation: £100 per week*

* No payment is made for the first two weeks of disablement and the maximum payment period is for two years (accident claims).

How to claim personal accident insurance.

It is a condition of all insurance policies that incidents that may result in claims are reported to insurers without delay. If such incidents are not reported within an acceptable timescale (usually 30 days from the time of the incident), your insurers may refuse to indemnify you.

In the event of a claim in relation to a commercial business policy, you should contact your Lycetts account executive/handler as soon as possible. When completing claim forms, ensure the whole form is completed as far as possible and it is signed on your behalf or your company’s behalf by an authorised person. For personal accident claims, please note:

  • Serious injuries or fatalities must be reported immediately by telephone to enable your insurers to investigate should they wish. It is not acceptable to wait until the claimant has returned to work.
  • Minor injuries should be reported as soon as possible.
  • Wages details and copy sick notes should be forwarded without delay so as not to prejudice interim payments.
