Lycetts bolsters sponsorship stable with renewed deals for Charlie Deutsch and other jockeys

March 4th 2021

We are happy to announce that Lycetts has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with jockey Charlie Deutsch, along with other top talent.

We have renewed our sponsorship of Gloucestershire-based jockey Deutsch, who first joined our sponsorship portfolio in 2017.

Riding for Herefordshire-based National Hunt trainer Venetia Williams, Deutsch has made a name for himself in the sport, with 133 winning jumps over the past five seasons.

Deutsch’s racing career shows no signs of slowing down, having already clinched a series of wins this season, with some exciting prospects at next month’s Cheltenham Festival.

“Lycetts is fully-immersed in the world of racing and it is encouraging to see it maintain its support of jockeys of all levels, particularly during these trying times,” said Deutsch.

“The renewal of several sponsorship deals cements Lycetts’ reputation as a great advocate of the sport and I am delighted to continue my relationship with the brand and its people.”

As well as Deutsch, we have sealed sponsorship deals with several other jockeys.

We have also renewed contracts with Guy Disney, the first amputee jockey to win a professional race in the UK, Northern-based jockeys Nick Orpwood and Amie Waugh, and Gloucestershire-based Charlotte Alexander, who rides retired steeplechaser Saphir du Rheu in Eventing and Team Chasing.

“Like every other industry, racing has been hit hard by the pandemic, but in this challenging environment, it is even more imperative that Lycetts throws its support behind the talented jockeys that are the heart and pulse of this sport,” said Lycetts Divisional Director William McCarter.

“Sponsoring Charlie and other jockeys is a small step in demonstrating our dedication to racing and doing what we can to help ensure the sport endures in these turbulent times.”

The jockey sponsorship portfolio forms part of our long-term support of the racing industry. The Lycetts Team Champion, a prestigious industry award which celebrates the most exemplary racehorse training yards in Britain, has been running successfully since its launch in 2018.
