Gerard attended the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, gaining qualifications in Advanced Farm Management before joining Lycetts in 1990.
He farms a traditional mixed arable and grass farm, with the commercial forestry coming under the English Woodland Grant Scheme. In addition he has a number of listed properties that he lets out.
Gerard sits on the Northumbria Committee of ‘Historic Houses’ and is a Trustee of the Rothley Trust.
